What is the difference between 3D and 4D imaging?
3D scans show still pictures of your baby in three dimensions. 4D scans show moving 3D images of your baby, with time being the fourth dimension.
What is 4D HD live technology?
Ultrasound with 3D/4D imaging have been around for years, but GE’s HD live ultrasound technology uses a unique and moveable light source inside the probe that not only provides both 3D and 4D imaging, but utilises a combination of advanced skin illuminating and shadowing techniques of your baby. This technique allows you to see the facial expressions of your baby, and even watch your baby yawn, wink and smile.
What if my baby won’t co-operate?
Sometimes babies are shy and don’t want to show us their face. If this happens we will send you for a short walk to try and wake baby and offer free sweeties. If baby continues to be shy, we will bring you back within 2 weeks at no charge. We are usually able to get great pictures the second time around. Please eat something 10 minutes prior to your scan to keep baby awake.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require a 24-hour cancellation notice so it can be offered to other expectant mums.
A £10 deposit is required upon booking which will be refunded if cancellation is made at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.
How many family members can I bring with me?
We have comfortable seating and excellent viewing on our large screen TV for UP TO 4 people at present. (This count includes adults and children and mum to be)
Is 3D /4D ultrasound safe?
Our ultrasound machine is a brand new GE Voluson S10 Expert with built in TRICEFY technology.
Ultrasound has been researched extensively in hundreds of clinical studies over the past 30 years and has not been shown to cause any harm to either mother or baby with routine scanning now a normal procedure in all pregnancies. In 3D/4D scanning, exactly the same type and intensity of ultrasound is used as with conventional 2D scanning. 3D and 4D ultrasound both utilise sound waves to look inside the body. A probe placed on the body emits sound waves into the body, listens for the return echo and generates an image. 4D ultrasound will be similar therefore to a conventional scan in terms of exposure.
Who will perform my scan?
Your scan will be performed by a fully qualified sonographer. If you have any queries regarding your pregnancy or simply need pregnancy advice, please feel free to ask.
EFSUMB Clinical Safety Statement for Diagnostic Ultrasound states that ultrasound examinations should be performed only by competent personnel who are trained and updated in ultrasound safety matters.
